**I would like to give my congratulations to Diana Crick and her husband, on their brand new Grandson who was born on Friday!!! A new brother for their sweet granddaughter :o) How wonderful to have one of each!**
It is Inspiration week at Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog!
Our wonderful Design Team Member, Cabio has given us our challenge this month.
Here is the picture:
What do you think? Different?
You must go and see the work the Design Team has done at the Challenge Blog!
I see many things in the picture. A calm and restful place. The beautiful window, of course. The soft yellow and bright white. The very bright touches of orange and magenta. Also a touch of gold and wood.
It was hard to decide just which way to go with this inspiration.
In the end I choose to go with the colour of wood and the two bright colours, with a touch of white.
For my project this time I have made a Birthday gift for my very good friend, Laura. Sure hope she likes it.
I started with a piece of design paper that I have had for many years that had a soft muted brown to it. I then distressed it in different ways.
I am going to tease you this time like I have seen others do, by showing you little 'bits' of pictures LOL!
Here we go...........
As you can see I distressed the soft brown paper with ink from Tim Holtz in 'Walnut Stain' and then tore the paper in 3 places. I wet my paper and curled the edges of the torn parts, used my heat gun to dry it and then put the same ink on those parts. I took another old piece of coloured card stock in the magenta colour and put it behind the first brown piece and with my bright orange embroidery floss I 'sewed' the seams together.
I stamped the top left and bottom right corner with a swirl design in the same 'Walnut Stain ink' and put half pearls in 3 sizes over the design. I especially like the look of the top left corner :o)
I used 'Tulip Tilda' from The Fairytale Collection #232 from Diana's Store. She is ready and waiting for you there :o)
I coloured her in the same colours that I picked from Cabio's photo. Copics will be listed at the end of the post.
Tilda is stamped on Cryogen White paper the edges of which have been inked with Tim Holtz 'Vintage Photo'.
Still digging through my stash of old design paper I found this bright orange with white polka dots and made my flowers out of it and some more of the distressed brown. I punched the flowers out with my 'retro' punches. I used buttons from my stash for the centres and also added a precious hand made butterfly button I have saved for a very long time, on the upper right side.
My papers were all very thin so I used Score Tape from Diana's store and taped the whole thing down to a heavy piece of card stock for stability.
The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.
Here is the whole thing before I framed it:
AND here it is framed and all ready to go to Laura:
I am sorry I wasn't able to get a picture without the light reflecting on it :o(
* HINT - I used very thick 3 dimensional tape attached to the glass to have room for my flowers to keep their shape and all of the buttons and pearls.* It is hidden by the white frame.
Hope you enjoyed my project :o)
