Good Morning! My Friday Sketchers Challenge....

I have made one of the two Sympathy Cards I have to send shortly.
I have also followed the Sketch from Friday Sketchers on this one!

I am not sure if I like this one - I would like to hear what you have to say about it, please.
You will notice it is a 'busy' card for me. It has a lot of bling on it and I am not sure about this much bling on a 'Sympathy' Card?

Card stock used is SU 'Bermuda Bay', 'Riding Hood Red', and 'Very Vanilla'. The Design Paper is from a book from 'My Minds Eye'. I really like it as it has words printed on it that are very appropriate. I used 'Very Vanilla' ribbon and stamped on it with a long simple flower ( which I learned from my friend, Glenda ) It was stamped with Brown Staz On Ink. My Angel is from Sugar Nellie. I coloured her with Copics and used several colours of Stickles on her. The sentiment on the outside of the card as well as the larger one on the inside of the card came from: Impression Obsession, Inc. - CL114 Sympathy Sentiments. I used Nestibilites Labels 1 for the inside.
Here are some more pictures:

And the inside:

Many thanks for looking at my card. Please don't forget to let me know your thoughts on this one :o)
Have a great day - New Years Eve is just a day away and I am sure most of you have great plans.

My challenge for Magnolis-licious Challenge Blog

Hello!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas?!!
Can you believe it is going to be 2010 in a few days. Where in the world did that DECADE GO??

I am later than I intended to be - but not too late for the Challenge over on Magnolia-licious Challenge blog! I haven't even had a chance to look at the other entries yet. But will do so as soon as I have posted this card.
I guess I was tired cause I found it hard to come up with a shape - LOL...... So silly - I know!
In the end I made a simple Christmas stocking. I folded my white card stock in half and cut out the shape. The card is attached in two places: the cuff and a bit of the heel. I felt it would be safer that way than in just one place. I used left over design paper I had on hand and some left over pink that matched. I used my new 'Sparkling Tilda' stamp - I absolutely LOVE the sparkling head band :o)

I glued my design paper onto the white card stock and then glued the cuff, heel and toe onto the design paper.I used SU Regal Rose Ink to darken the edges of the DP. I then hand stitched the whole stocking with double hand embroidery thread.
I found in my stash some rub on's I had never used they were sticky ones that you have to put something over once they are attached. So I put SU Dazzling Diamonds over them. They are the 'Joy to the World" sentiment as well as the two snowflakes on heel and toe. I also added a dark pink rhinestone to the centre of the two snowflakes. I used 'Sookwang' tape that I cut very thin to add the pompom ribbon to the bottom of the cuff. It wanted to fray a lot, so I gently dipped each cut end into Crystal Laquer to stop that. I coloured my beautiful Tilda with Copics. Put ' Stardust' Glitter Ritz on her headband thickly as I wanted it to be 3 dimensional. I also put Dazzling Diamonds on her wings that had been lightly coloured with BGOOOO first. She is attached also with Sookwang tape. And looks over the top of the stocking. Here are some further pictures to hopefully show you the glitter on the rub on's.

Sorry for taking so many pictures! With my photo-editing program not working I am never sure what you are going to be able to see.
This was a fun project and I thank Cheryl Rowley for thinking of this one.
Keep well - keep safe - Love Candy

Merry Christmas to All

Hello and the Best of the Christmas Season to all of you wonderful people who come and visit my blog.
I started this in June and never thought I could follow it through. Never thought I would learn so much from you all about blogging.....
And certainly didn't think you would all come to see what I made.
You have made this lady one happy gal. I can't thank you enough for your kind comments and the many things I have learned from each one of you about card making.
My wish is for you all to have a very Merry and safe Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year; with lots more time for everyone to make their beautiful treasures.
I have made gifts that I have forgotten to take pictures of as I have hurried through these past few days - I am sorry I forgot!! For you AND for me as I won't have a record now of them :o(
Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year with your brilliant ideas :o)

Oh It's Morning Already!!

I had to keep working, so thought I would show you a very simple candle.

I decided not to work with the tissue paper on the candle this time. I wanted my friend to be able to actually light the candle and this way she can do that when she is ready and SAVE Tilda and the wrapping to put on a new candle!!

Her favourite colour is purple. I wanted to keep it very light because I wanted it to be used at Christmas and put in my green and red berry wreath. I think it works OK. Other than colouring with Copics and cutting Tilda out with my Scalloped Oval; I simply put the SU 'Almost Amethist' card stock through my crimper and sealed it with Sookwang tape. I did NOT tape it to the candle. It is sticky enough that it stays just where you want it to be! I wrapped a wide silk ribbon around the whole thing and added clear rhinestones down the backside where the join in the paper is and also a few around the ribbon. I did add Crystal Lacquer to each berry and some Dazzling Diamonds on the candle.

My pictures are not perfect as I had to hold the candle so you could see it. Sorry about that! Of course I have encluded a pretty candle stand with this gift!

Here it is:

and the back view:

Hope you enjoy this little candle........

Hello once again!

Today I wrapped gifts to mail in the morning, picked up a gift that I had ordered and finally had arrived. AND made two Magnolia cards. Both identical!! You can tell things are getting tight when I do that LOL.

I love this little Tilda 'Christmas Morning'. I have seen her numerous times on other blogs, but when you love something this much you just have to make your own!!
I stamped Tilda on white card stock, coloured her with Copics and cut it out and put her onto Real Red card stock from SU. The music is also a Magnolia stamp from last Christmas, 'Silent Night'. I made my own paper with it. I used a thin card stock and used a method that my wonderful SU Demonstrator, Glenda, taught me. She taught us if we rub in a circular motion onto card stock with the stamp pad we would get a very interesting background. It would be different depending on how gently you held the pad. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink 'Antique Linen' and did that very thing. Then I scrunched up the paper, after that I used SU 'Soft Suede' and stamped my Silent night onto it and then rubbed the card stock again VERY gently to get the darker marks on it. Then I ironed the paper to get it flat so that I could mount it onto SU Real Red card stock. ( The stamp is a large one - I used it once and cut it in half so each card had a piece of it ) The main Card stock is Whisper White from SU and the Design Paper is Christmas SU . I wrapped a piece of ribbon from Michael's around the music paper and tied it into a bow. I used Spellbinders Shapeabilities Snowflake #1 to make the snowflake. I used the same background paper I made for the music; sprayed it heavily with home made shimmer using SU Champagne Mist. Then touched it with a bit of glue and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds from SU onto it. I also used a little bit of Crystal Stickles for Tilda's clothes. Tilda and the snowflake are raised with 3 D tape.

Here she is:

Here is a closer look!

and the inside of course :o)

Sure hope the majority of you are all finished preparation for Christmas and are now RELAXING!! LOL LOL

Happy Tuesday Evening!

Hi everyone! Gosh I have been so busy I almost forgot to post!
I have sent almost everything away but I did take a picture of one Magnolia Card of Edwin on his sleigh. This image is from the new 'So Snowy So Jolly Collection' as is one of the money holders I remembered to show you. The other one is a digital image from a great place called Cuddly Buddly!
Here is the picture of the card. This one was sent to a family of 3 boys!

This of course is a plain and simple card. I stamped the image on a 5" square of white paper then masked Edwin and stamped the Winter Forest over top of him. I coloured with Copics of course and used Sparkly Fluff on the white parts of his touque and coat. All the snow is Twinklets.
Here is a closer look:

the inside:

Here are two of the money holders I made. All 6 were different and all had Magnolia images on them except one:

Here is the digi image. Cute eh???

You can tell I am a bit rushed as the cards aren't as involved as usual. I just hope they are enjoyed anyway.
Hope you are all in much better shape than I am for being ready for Christmas!
Be Happy

Quickie Gift Card Holders

Hello Friends,
Many big thanks to those who are praying for my brother. I appreciate it so much! He was working in Montreal and lives in St. Catherine's, Ontario. His wife and children are driving to him in the horrible snow storm that is raging on the east coast of Canada and U.S.A........Wishing safe travel to them.
Well this is another quick post. Only two weeks until Christmas today! I still have gifts to make and all my gifts to wrap and mail back east and to the mainland of B.C. It will be a very busy weekend for me!!! PLUS it is DH Birthday today - the BIG 65th! I cooked a dinner and made his favourite Birthday Cake. His cousin is having a huge family surprise Birthday Party for him tomorrow and all I have to do is bring dessert. THREE cakes! So you know what I will be doing in the morning LOL
Tonight I made 4 gift card holders for our two nephews and our two Grandchildren. Two for the little boys are the same so you will only get pictures of 3 of them :o)
I found these on 'Waltzingmouse.blogspot.com' and if you click here it will take you to SCS and all you have to do is click on the link there for the pattern.
Here they are:

The blue one is for our oldest nephew and the airplane ones are for our youngest nephew and our Grandson. These aren't Christmas Papers, but I couldn't resist using it because it reminded me so much of the 50's when I was a young girl and what my brother used to get for Christmas. The pink one is for our Granddaughter - of course! What could I do - her favourite colour is PINK and she loves BLING - I have taught her well LOL LOL
Now the Grandchildren are getting presents as well - but we thought they might get a big kick out of a gift certificate to McDonald's - it is such a great treat for them to go there. Our two nephews I am afraid, get Gift Certificates to Wal* Mart each year to buy what they wish for.
Tomorrow I am hoping to make some money holders for the 'big' kids. Hope to see you all again then.
Be happy! Love, Candy

The Tooth Fairy cometh......

Gosh another week has come and gone - can you believe it?
We have had some unfortunate news about two members of our family this week s0 I haven't been up to making things.
This afternoon I realize I had to get going here or I will be late for Christmas and there is no way I want to disappoint others. Especially my Grandchildren; so I made a special gift for Brandon just from Grandma. I usually make each of our Grandchildren something by hand just from me - this year Brandon is getting a Tooth Fairy Box. As far as I know he has no loose teeth yet, but he is 6 and in Grade One so the time will soon be here for him I think :o)
The tin and 'What's In Your Tin #1' stamp set were purchased from Gina K. a year ago in preparation for this time......The stamp used is from 'Whiff of Joy' and is 'Mathew Lying' - as you see, I use only a portion of the image. The entire box was painted with Copics EXCEPT the wings which I coloured with Prismacolors. I used SU Dazzling Diamonds on the wings, Patina Stickles for the stars and a couple of flourishes. I also attached SWARTZ. Crystals with Crystal Lacquer to the odd star.
I was trying to make this a magical looking little box for the dream of the tooth fairy but I had to be careful not to make it feminine! I hope I did it 'just right'. You must leave a comment and let me know if I succeeded. I am disappointed with the star I made :o( I used Crystal Lacquer and I had added a Swartz. Crystal under his name - when I turned it over after it had dried I could see there is a small space around the crystal. I don't think Brandon will notice it - but I care because I was trying to make it so special......

Here are my pictures :

When I started my blog in June I was just begiinning to make cards on a regular basis and the blog was going to be a test for me to see if : 1 - I could keep it up and 2. It would be fun.
Well it has been fun but I have not made a lot of projects. I now have the odd store asking me to make cards for them once in a while; as well as a little place back in my home town that I made some cards for, and low and behold they have been selling.
So in 2010 my goal is to work more faithfully - almost like a job ( when life doesn't interfere! LOL ) and have a lot more for you to look at. I really hope I can succeed in this..........
Love to you all, Candy

Hi Everybody!

Gosh it has been a week since I posted!!! Where has the time gone??? I have been running all week to doctor and dentist appointments - getting caught up on all that stuff, plus lab tests! Our house is a big mess and is driving me crazy. My DH painted the bedroom for me last week and now is doing the bathroom and still the extra furniture is in the living room. We are giving away two twin beds with brass frames, a table, a feather bed etc. I can hardly wait to get it all out of here so I can get the house clean and tidy again and then decorate for Christmas! It has been our family tradition to put up the tree and decorate on DH's Birthday which is December 11. Sure hope that happens. Denis is putting molding around so that all has to be cut and painted white and then the walls painted to match the bedroom. You know how it goes a little gets done and then it has to dry before the next thing. In between the bathroom work he has put all the Christmas lights up outside and is now hatching a plan to decorate the yard some how. He loves doing things like this and it is always a surprise!! He can only work for a few hours early in the morning because he has a cataract that needs to be removed and can't see after that.... he is trying so hard - so I can't really complain.

Any way I didn't want you to think I hadn't been doing anything!!! LOL I have actually been working on a secret project that I can't mention for a while yet. So I have been creating.

I did make two Christmas Cards for my grandchildren for my mother to give them. She couldn't find Great Grandchildren cards anywhere so I whipped these two up and mailed them to her last Wednesday.

This first one is for Brandon and I have to thank my great Stampin' Up gal - Glenda - for teaching these great Punch Pals. I made this Santa.

I added a few things to him to make him more special: I put Dazzling Diamonds on the snowflakes on the background card stock as well as Santa's Beard, and Sparkly Fluff on his hat.
Added a bunch of white highlights and two black buttons to his coat and some Spica Silver Glitter Pen to his belt. I also added a white ribbon around the card and dangled a silver Santa charm from it. I also computer generated the sentiment for a Great Grandson.

Here is Mariah's Card:

The children have a cat named Reebok ( did I spell that right? - you know the runners? ), anyway she and Mariah are pretty fond of each other, so I thought I would make her this card.
I love Whipper Snapper Images and only have two of them, but one is this: Meowy Christmas.
I thought if I did it up in Mariah's favourite colour PINK and added lots of BLING she would be happy with it. I found some pink Christmas DP and added Dazzling Diamonds to all of the snowflakes. I stamped random soft blue snowflakes on my white card stock after stamping and masking the kitty. Put lots of DD on those snowflakes as well. I cut the image with my Nesties and also the dark pink scalloped oval from them as well. After I coloured with Copics and added Stickles to the hat and the bells, and Sparkly Fluff to the hat - I added two real bells to the oval and then adhered it onto the card with dimensionals. Forgot to mention that I cut the corners out with a Martha Stewart Corner Punch and am not liking that look AT ALL! Both the outside and inside sentiments for this card were computer generated as well.
They were fun and easy and I sure hope mom and the children like them.

I really wanted to say hi to all of you wonderful people who come and look at my blog on a regular basis. Want you to know how very much I appreciate it and that I have been doing something!!! LOL

I trust you all had a great Thanksgiving? Now it is almost Christmas and I can imagine all of the things you have to do in a few short weeks!!

Have fun with it - take care - drive carefully - and I will be back soon I hope :o)

Happy Monday Morning!

Hello - I am home again from another trip to visit mom and my grandchildren!! Actually I have been home for exactly one week. My DH painted my bedroom while I was away so I had a lot of work to do when I got back, putting the room back together and getting caught up on housework and laundry that had accumulated while I was away. I also had a Dentist appointment and we each got our H1N1 and regular flu shots!! So this week I hope to get some cards made - even though I have another Dentist and a Doctor appointment!

Today I made a card for a friend from Ladner, who had hip replacement surgery. I was able to visit her for tea a couple of days before she had the operation and then popped off a gift when she first got home - but she was still to tired to see anyone. I wanted to make sure she received a nice card and used a Mo Manning Fairy I have been itching to get my hands on!!

I made the image small enough to cut her out with my second largest Round Nestie and then used the largest Scalloped Round Nestie to cut out a background to attach her to:

As you can see I used my 6X6 paper pad of Basic Grey Wisteria. I really love this paper :o)

I made the card out of Natural Card Stock and as I cut each piece of DP I inked the edges with a soft blue. I really wanted this card lightly sparkled and very soft, to look like a Fairy belonged on it!

Here is a closer picture:

I am sorry that I still haven't been able to fix my photo editing program so the pictures are not the best!

I coloured Mo's Fairy with Copics - all my lightest colours - except for her hair. I gave her soft lip stick and nail polish - which you probably can't see! All the bubbles have Crystal Lacquer on them and her wings have been coloured all different soft shades and then I covered them with glue and sprinkled Crystal Glitter Ritz on them. I also sprinkled the same glitter on all the stars of her skirt and head band. The soft beige colour around her is done with Pearlescent Chalk except for the little bit at her feet with which I used a Copic again. I also put glue into all of the flower centres on the DP background and sprinkled the Glitter Ritz on them as well. Wanted as much light and airy sparkles as possible. Two pieces of sheer brown 1/4" ribbon were wrapped around the card twice and then I made two bows and placed them on with glue dots. The ribbon is a great match to the brown in the DP. I also used 3 Bella Baubles to pick up the mauve in the DP and in her dress. The sentiment was computer made by me and cut out with a SU punch, as was the piece of DP that I glued it onto. With the blue ink sponged around the sentiment it is hard now to tell it is the same paper as the Scallop Circle. Both the Fairy and sentiment are put on with 3 D tape.

The inside of the card I kept very plain. I used some more of the Wisteria Collection and simply covered both pages with it. I added a butterfly button I have been hoarding for years and years to the Wisteria on the left hand page and put a simple sentiment on the right page:

I have been dieing to get back to making cards because all the time I was away I was looking at all of your blogs and seeing marvelous work being done ..............OH it does hurt to be away from my stamps etc. LOL LOL
I am sure most of you are getting ready for big Thanksgiving Celebrations on Thursday. I hope they are as wonderful as you wish they will be and would like to wish you all Happy Thanksgiving if you live in USA.
Hope to be seeing you real soon with another post ~ Love Candy

A Sympathy Card

Hello!
Here is a Sympathy Card I made today.

I used a Gorjuss Stamp called 'Guardian Angel'. DP that is very old and I have no idea who made it - sorry. The card stocks are all from SU - Whisper White, Ballet Blue and Melon Mambo. The image was stamped on WW card stock coloured with Copics and then I used my
Atyou Spica gold pen for her hair and her heart necklace. Both the wings of the Angel and the bear have 'Stardust' Stickles on them. After the stickles were dried I wrinkled the image by balling it up in my hand and then distressed it with a distress tool and also Tim Holtz 'Weathered Wood Ink'. The image was cut with my Nesties and then double mounted on both of the card stocks. I put a double flower together with a Sterling Silver Spacer ring as well as a brad and mounted the flower with dimensional tape. The Sentiment was cut with a label punch and then the I cut the blue background for it with the fancy label punch. I poked holes in the blue, and mounted it also on to dimensional tape.

Here is the inside left of the card - just simple:

I used the same papers as the outside and added SU beautiful white silk ribbon which I dyed with SU Ballet Blue ink to match the paper.

The right side of the card:
The Sentiments are from 'Papertrey Ink - In case you can't read the inside it says : Wishing you Hope in the midst of sorrow, Comfort in the midst of pain.
You can see that I started to write on the card before I realized I hadn't taken pictures of it yet!! - I stopped after I wrote ' Dear' LOL..........
Thanks for taking a look at my card.
I am off to my mother's for two weeks - so you won't see me again for awhile. Take care .......
